Support the Vision of the Rail Park

Last week, I attended a fundraiser for the Friends of the Rail Park at the newly-opened Brick and Mortar. It was wonderful to see so many people come out to support one of the most visionary projects happening in Philly.

The Rail Park is a continuous three-mile linear park and recreation path connecting diverse neighborhoods along the former Reading Viaduct and City Branch rail cut. The first phase of the park, a quarter-mile long path, is set to begin construction in 2016, and will surely make Callowhill one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Philly.

And in good news leading up to the fundraiser, the Philadelphia Art Commission bestowed final approval for the park’s design last week too!

However, to bring this full urban vision to reality, further support is needed for the initial project along with ongoing maintenance and stewardship.

I hope you’ll join us in this supporting this vision.
